Credit card expense report from your activity download

Most banks let you download card activity as a CSV. Superlytix turns it into an expense report: spending against last year, which categories and merchants take the most, and how many purchases you make. Payments to the card are kept out, and returns are netted off.

How to export it from your tool

  1. In your bank's website, open the card account and its activity or transactions.
  2. Choose Download, pick the date range and CSV.
  3. Choose a long enough period (13 months or more) to compare with last year.
  4. Purchases as negative amounts are read correctly: spending is shown as a positive number.

Questions

Are card payments counted as spending?

No. Only purchases (minus returns) count. Payments to the card are kept out, and you can see that rule in the definition of Spending.

My bank doesn't add categories. Can I still use it?

Yes. Spending by month and by merchant work from the date, description and amount alone.

Is my statement data safe?

Rows never go to our Specialized Super Intelligence: it only sees column names and summaries.
